Captain Mark McClutchey is one of the most renowned, recognized, and decorated tournament anglers in the entire Great Lakes region. He is the founder of Diabolical Sportfishing, one of the most successful salmon and trout fishing operations in
the United States over the last 20+ years. His teams have celebrated more major tournament wins across the Great Lakes than any other team during this time. Captain Mark blends technical precision, advanced tactical knowledge, and a disciplined professional background to deliver elite results for both tournament circuits and charter clients. However, his expertise also extends globally, competing as a professional saltwater angler in high-stakes billfishing tournaments in Costa Rica and the Eastern United States.
Among the long list of tournament accolades, he secured the top two largest payouts in Great Lakes salmon tournament history. This includes the historic $70,000 first-place win at the 2017 Scotty King of Kings tournament in Toronto, Canada, and a dominant $37,000 purse at the 2025 Bay Harbor Invitational. He's a two-time U.S. representative at Trolling Master Bornholm (TMB) in Denmark (the world’s largest salmon tournament consisting of 400+ boats). Other notable tournament wins include the Ludington Offshore Classic Big Boys (2018) - Lake Michigan’s largest, most prestigious tournament, Salmon Showdown TV Series and Championship (2014) - a televised, season-long tournament series at multiple
ports throughout Lake Michigan, the Cheboygan Salmon Tournament with 1st Place finishes in 2018, 2020, 2023, and 2025, the Bay Harbor Invitational - 1st Place (2020 and 2025), and the Spring Fling Tournament 1st Place (2015) – Largest tournament and payout ($15,000) on Lake Huron.
Captain Mark offers premier charter and tournament fishing operation serving the ports of Cheboygan, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Bois Blanc Island, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs. He manages a multi-vessel fleet of Pursuit boats, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and high-performance Yamaha power.
In addition to his own tackle creations, Mark has long fished Stinger spoons in both his charter operation and tournament outings. Along with being a genuine, sincere, and all-around great guy, we're very fortunate and thankful to have someone as successful and distinguished as Mark representing Stinger on the world stage!
