Great rods ! I know need 2 more for a full set . The blanks look great a perform as well . The carbon fibre looking lower grip is amazing for cranking the rods down tight with orca rod holders .

This is my first season running the Gibbs Guide Series Mooching Rods and so far I’m really impressed. They are light, responsive and feel durable. I really hope these rods can help me catch Helga. She’s the Tyee I lost at the boat. Have you seen her?

It didn't take long for the Gibbs Guide Series to become our favourite go to down rigging rod. At 10'6", it's super fast and fun on the top end, rock solid in the lowers with great holding power for hook setting and clips releases. The butt is woven carbon fibre and holds up exceptionally well in rod holders. The reel seat is polished aluminum, striking in appearance and functional against the elements. The cork main grip is perfect and traditional in appearance and feel. For fishing and guiding, the medium action is an absolute preferred weapon of choice. You won't be disappointed.

I’ve been using the Gibbs fishing mooching rods for the past few seasons. My clients love their action and performance, and I've found them incredibly durable! They've quickly become my favorite rods.

These rods are truly excellent. I was a little skeptical at first but these have an incredible feel and are very much worth the investment. They look great (that reel seat goes along way) and the beautiful details all have functional purpose. It has a double nut, so no more mid fight tightening (Fenwick and Okuma, I’m looking at you), the fibre butt slides out of the holder fast without shredding cork, the backbone has tons of character, and after a season of daily guide use, the butt cap is still attached. This is quite literally the only rod I have had where that thing doesn’t get lost day 2. Best of all, they didn’t break. I am hard on gear and very few quality rods last longer than a season. I have started buying these for my guides and should be the go to sticks in all of our boats soon.

my Buddy is a guide and has two, given to him by his boss, I'v seen them in action, look, is a good build. mine I haven't seen as it is a Christmas gift ........from my wife to me LOL

Love the rod. Favorite part of the rod is the reel seat. The only thing I would change, would be to add couple of inches of cork on the “upper” handle. Biggest fish I played was 16-20 lbs.

The Med/Heavy Guide Series rod performed very well during the salmon season off the west coast of Vancouver Island. I have eight of these rods on two diff boats and everyone who used them had no complaints and landed all fish without any failures or issues. I recommend these rods to any serious angler. Just and idea to Gibbs.... You need to design and sell a "heavy" version of this rod with a little more backbone. We landed springs in excess of 25lbs more than once, but it was a fist fight to get them to the boat when they were pissed off. The Med/Heavy rods work great on those middle weight fish. I would personally use a bit heavier rod on certain fisheries. You build the heavier rod and Ill take 12, six for each boat. Thanks for all the great products. Jeff

I used the new rods last weekend Bucktailing for big rainbow trout in Okanagan lake. The build quality is excellent and the action when fighting a fish was soft on the tip and has the right amount of backbone on back end. The handle length has perfect ergonomics. I can’t wait to have a big chinook ripping line this summer. I highly recommend these mooching rods. I purchased the Medium action and paired with the Islander TR3 the balance is perfect. Great job
