Gibbs Fishing Launches Stewardship Program to Support Recreational Sport Fishing, Education, and Angling Access
Gibbs Fishing has announced the launch of the Gibbs Fishing Stewardship Program, a new initiative designed to support projects that strengthen recreational sport fishing, improve fish habitat, and expand responsible access to angling.
Built around three core pillars, Conservation, Education, and Access, the program will direct funding toward projects that protect and restore fish habitat, advance applied fisheries science and angler education, and support responsible access to recreational sport fishing opportunities.
Funded through a permanent annual commitment from the company, the program will provide grants ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 CAD to eligible organizations and institutions. This inaugural grant program is focused on practical, measurable projects within Canada’s Pacific Northwest and Great Lakes regions, with plans to expand in the coming years.
“For many of us, fishing means something deeper than just catching fish. It is where life slows down, where we reconnect with nature and with the people beside us. At Gibbs, supporting the sport and the communities behind it is not new for us. We have been doing that in different ways for years. This Stewardship Program is a significant next step, creating a more focused and lasting way to invest in habitat, education, and access so recreational fishing remains strong for future generations,” said Rob Campbell, President of Gibbs Fishing.
Eligible applicants include fisheries and habitat organizations, research institutions conducting applied fisheries science, and youth-focused angling education or access programs. Projects must demonstrate clear alignment with recreational sport fishing and deliver measurable outcomes within a one-year timeframe.
Gibbs Fishing will continue to support fisheries, conservation efforts, and angling initiatives across the United States as part of its broader, ongoing commitment to the sport and the communities that sustain it.
Applications for the inaugural funding cycle open April 20 , 2026 and close August 1, 2026. Successful applicants will be announced on September 15, 2026.
The Gibbs Fishing Stewardship Program builds on the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting fisheries, conservation, and angling communities. While this grant program creates a more formal way to fund eligible projects in Canada, it reflects and strengthens Gibbs Fishing’s broader ongoing efforts to help promote the sport, support the communities it serves, and contribute to the long-term future of recreational angling across North America.
