... Tie a Knot

Knots are really important when you are fishing. They are so important because they are what keep your line and lure attached to your rod! If your knot breaks or pulls apart, you’ll loose your fish and lure! You can practice tying them at home. The following knot is a favorite of Captain Dan, Gibbs Fishing Pro! Captain Dan suggests doing 7 wraps if you want to be lucky!

... Calculate a Fish Weight

Although it is not an exact science, there is a formula to help calculate the weight of a fish. The formula goes as follows: W = (L x (G x G)) / R

W = Weight
L = Length
G = Girth (.58 x L)
R = Type of Fish
Trout = 800 (imperial) / 28850 (metric)
Pike = 900 (imperial) / 32450 (metric)

Use the form below to test the calculation.

Imperial Conversion
Length= in. Weight= lbs.
Metric Conversion
Length= cm. Weight= kg.
